All of our dedicated flying grooms are excellent horsemen having had many years of experience in handling horses, providing veterinary remedial care and working with horses in the sky. This experience ensures the welfare and safety of your horses throughout their journey.
Not only do they have the capability to handle all breeds and temperaments of horse but they have extensive knowledge of the different models of aircraft, the horse stalls and the constantly changing procedures at airports all over the world.
Professional Qualifications
Equine International Airfreight have their Flying Grooms registered as members of the ATA (Animal Transport Association) and each hold equine qualifications proving a high level of proficiency in horse care including the safe loading and unloading of horses.
Some Flying Grooms have also:
- Completed the Post Entry Quarantine Groom Induction and exotic diseases training.
- Qantas Airlines Orientation and Occupational Health and Safety induction Training.
- Hold ASIC (Aviation Security Identification Cards) for Australian Airports.
- Hold ADA Certificates (Authority to Drive Airside) at Australian Airports.
- First Aid Certification
- Certificate IV in Horse Management

Our Flying Grooms sole responsibility is to take care of the horses during the flight; accompanying your horse throughout the airport and flight process – from the minute they arrive at the airport to the minute they depart the airport of destination.
We can arrange for our flying grooms to accompany your horse onto trucks and assist in the delivery to it’s final destination stable.
We employ only the most professional and reliable grooms who understand horses, aircraft stalls and import/ export airport procedures, to ensure the most precious of horses are delivered safely to competitions, races and new stables all over the world.
