At Equine International Airfreight we provide a first-class air transport service from Australia to New Zealand and New Zealand to Australia.

EIAF can organise all logistics and veterinary requirements associated with transport to and from New Zealand.

Exports to New Zealand

There is no requirement for vaccinations or pre-export quarantine for horses being exported to New Zealand. However, all horses need to be blood tested for EIA (Equine Infectious Anaemia) and for EVA (Equine Viral Arteritis). All blood tests must return a negative result to be able to be exported.

All horses must also be treated for internal and external parasites within 48 hours of export.

All horses will inspected by an appointed Department of Agriculture and Water Resources (DAWR) Veterinary officer prior to export.

We recommend all horses are micro-chipped and / or branded.

Pregnant mares must not be over 300 days since last service date at the time of export.

Prior to shipment all veterinary requirements, export documentation and any blood testing will be co-ordinated by EIAF.

Currently horses can be exported to Auckland, New Zealand on direct flights from either Sydney or Melbourne.

Imports from New Zealand

There is no requirement for vaccinations or pre-export quarantine for horses being imported from New Zealand. Inspections by Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) prior to export are mandatory.

In some instances, additional testing may be required, i.e horses not being resident in NZ for set period of time.

We recommend all horses are micro-chipped and / or branded.

Pregnant mares must not be over 300 days since last service date at the time of export.

It is also a requirement that GST of 10% of the horses CIF Value (Cost of horse, cost of insurance and cost of freight) is payable prior to the horse arriving into Australia. Australian Customs will need evidence that the GST has been paid to allow clearance at the airport.

Currently horses can be imported from New Zealand on direct flights from either Auckland or Christchurch.

Prior to shipment all veterinary requirements, import documentation etc. will be co-ordinated by EIAF and / or our New Zealand appointed agent.
