United Arab Emirates

Permanent Export of Horses To United Arab Emirates

All horses being permanently exported to UAE from Australia must complete the following:

30 Days Pre-export isolation / quarantine (including 50 metre buffer zones) at a Department of Water Resources (DAWR) approved quarantine stable in Australia
Pre-quarantine Strangles testing (horses will not permitted to enter isolation premises without negative lab result)
All horses must be micro-chipped
Blood testing to include, but not limited to;
- EIA (Equine Infectious Anaemia)
- EVA (Equine Virus Arteritis) – colts and entire males
- EI (Equine Influenza)
- Strangles (Streptococcus equi subspecies equi)
Vaccination course for EI (Equine Influenza)
Routine checks from supervising veterinary surgeon
Post-arrival quarantine

All blood tests must return a negative result from the testing laboratory to be eligible to travel.

Pregnant mares must not be over 300 days since last service date at the time of export.

Prior to shipment all veterinary requirements, vaccinations, quarantine, export documentation and any blood testing will be co-ordinated by EIAF.

Currently horses can be exported to the United Arab Emirates from either Sydney or Melbourne International Airports.

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (Riyadh & Dammam)

Current airline schedules do not allow for horses to fly direct to Saudi Arabia. Horses bound for Saudi Arabia must go via the UAE under their import conditions. Horses are then transported from UAE by road.

Iran

Current airline schedules do not allow for horses to fly direct to Iran. Horses bound for Iran must go via the UAE under their import conditions. Horses are then transported from UAE by road.

Current airline schedules do not allow for horses to fly direct to Qatar. Horses bound for Qatar must go via the UAE under their import conditions. Horses are then transported from UAE by road.

Current airline schedules do not allow for horses to fly direct to Bahrain. Horses bound for Bahrain must go via the UAE under their import conditions. Horses are then transported from UAE by road.
